Oxon CSC held their third Annual Golf Open Championship on 12th September at Adderbury Golf Course, Banbury. weather was great and a good craic appears to have been had by all, especially frank T with his foghorn which was given several blasts around the course. It appears several complaints were made as some punters took it as a signal that lightning was coming and was walked off the course!!! First prize was a MOT and Service plus a magnificent Claret Jug. Martin G from Bicester Garages put this up as a prize and for that we thank you Marty. He then went on to win the event!!!! And the first prize with 40 points !!!!! However being a true sport he gave it back and it went to a count back on second place where Robbie and Aidey were joint runners up but on the count back Aidey stole it. Not bad for coming second??? Martin then went on to win the longest drive by a mile from Paddy. Nearest the pin went to Andy b and Robbie won the nearest the hole in 2. It was a close call for the Booby prize between Andy and John Hannaway. A lovely Head cover in Hope to see you all in Bells for killer Pool night and at AGM on 10th CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC....CELTIC.... Celtic choose Tony Mowbray as new manager
Celtic were last night on the verge of reaching agreement with Tony Mowbray to become the club’s new manager, 13 days after the resignation of Gordon Strachan.
The Scottish club hope to unveil the West Bromwich Albion manager as their new man in charge at a press conference within the next 48 hours. Peter Lawwell, the Celtic chief executive, has been involved in an exhaustive and sometimes fruitless quest over the past two weeks in trying to tie down Strachan’s successor. Owen Coyle was originally lined up for the job, although many within Celtic Park have said that Mowbray was the club’s No 1 target all along.
Despite official denials from the club last week, Lawwell had already established contact with Mowbray, who was a Celtic player from 1991 to 1995 and knows the Scottish scene from his time as manager of Hibernian, from 2004 to 2006.
Compensation will remain an issue to be settled between Celtic and West Brom, who have just been relegated from the Barclays Premier League. It is believed that Celtic will pay the Midlands club at least £1.5 million for the release of their manager. Mowbray is expected to hand in his resignation at West Brom over the weekend.
If the deal is clinched over the next 48 hours, the vast Celtic support will be preening themselves at the news. On top of the wide respect Mowbray has built up in England, his Hibernian team played a stylish brand of football under him, including putting Rangers and Celtic to the sword. Celtic will regard it as a coup in landing their pre-eminent target.
News of Mowbray’s impending arrival is also a welcome break for Lawwell, who had been under increasing pressure from an agitated Celtic support and Scottish media to deliver his target. Celtic are in the middle of arranging their pre-season schedule, after which the club will face two stiff Champions League qualifiers at the end of July and beginning of August.

CELTIC are on the lookout for a new manager after Gordon Strachan stood down on Monday — one day after relinquishing the SPL title to bitter rivals Rangers.
While he has been under criticism from some sections of the Celtic support the timing of the resignation surprised many.
Strachan guided the Bhoys to three consecutive titles but this season a four-point gap separated them from the new SPL champions.
With the rumour mill in full operation former Celtic striker Mark McGhee is the early favourite to succeed Strachan. The current Motherwell manager is highly rated though wouldn’t be universally welcomed by all Celtic supporters.
Others mentioned include out-of-work Alan Curbishley and
While Curbishley could be a possibility it’s highly unlikely that Coyle, who has one cap for the
Coyle may be convinced to manage again in
Undoubtedly many will wonder whether or not Roy Keane would have gone for the Celtic job had he not signed up to Ipswich Town and some wonder if he can get out of his contract with the Tractor boys.
Last year the odds of David O’Leary becoming the next Celtic manager inexplicably tumbled to 2/1 with some bookmakers, though there’s nothing to suggest the former Leeds United and Aston Villa boss will return to football at Parkhead.
On announcing his resignation Strachan said: “It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be the club’s manager for four years.
We have done all we can to bring success to the club and we were delighted to deliver three SPL titles, other domestic silverware, as well as making some great progress in Europe. It is just disappointing that we did not manage the fourth Championship.
However, the players can hold their heads high in terms of what they have done in recent years.”

The Oxon Shamrocks CSC at The Six Bells Bicester (see link below) The club grew out of a handful of Celtic Supporters who met in The Six Bells and in September 2004 decided it may well be worthwhile to form a supporters Club as the numbers watching televised games gave us cause to believe we could maintain a small club within the Bicester area. The club, in the traditions of Brother Walfrid aim to raise money to support local charities and we have donatedover £400to the Parkinson’s society, have supported BuFF a day centre for Under 5s, the building of a Church hall for all the community to use at the Immaculate Conception and we currently help sponsor Bardwell Under 7 football team. We have held a successful Golf days and a Family day. The Supporter’s Club is based in a small pub called the Six Bells and a thank you to Lisa the manager for her help in supporting the club. We are guaranteed televised matches being shown before any of the English League or European Games and this is no small fact due to there being 25-30 members at the big games and a good ten or twelve at midweek League games.
